Susanoo

As one ascends the Stairway to Heaven, surrounded by koinobori (carp streamers), the viewer comes face to face with Susanoo by Shigeki Hayashi.
I first encountered Hayashi’s work Q.P. some twenty years ago, when I was deeply moved by an installation he presented within a temple. Susanoo takes its name from a deity in Japanese mythology—a god of pioneering spirit and a protector against calamity. This work is currently in production and is scheduled to be acquired after the spring of 2026.
