Requiem

The third-floor bedroom faces Mount Fuji. On its wall hangs Requiem by Kuni Sugiyama. On clear days, when Mount Fuji reveals itself, we hope our guests will enjoy the view in quiet dialogue with the work.
Kuni Sugiyama and I once worked part-time at Recruit during the same period. An artist of my generation, he studied woodblock printing while living in Italy. After his return, we collaborated on a project for the Kids Earth Fund, and our friendship has continued ever since—even after he established his atelier in Kawaguchiko and made it his home.
